Securitisation

Barclays Capital is a leading player in the structuring, global distribution, trading, and research of asset backed products in the Asset Backed Securities (“ABS") and Asset Backed Commercial Paper (“ABCP”) markets.

Our Asset Securitisation Group is a globally integrated business offering efficient and seamless execution of the following securitisation transactions:

Term ABS Market
Barclays Capital has market leading capabilities across the credit card, auto, student loans and mortgage ABS asset classes, due to strong relationships with both issuers and investors. Our significant presence across the ABS arena has allowed us to successfully expand into other asset classes such as equipment leasing, rental car ABS, rate reduction bonds, and fleet leasing.

Securitisation Derivatives
Barclays Capital has a leading derivatives franchise. We are one of the few firms with a dedicated ABS derivatives team, and we have extensive experience in designing both in- and out-of-trust hedging strategies.

ABS Distribution
Barclays Capital's placement capabilities and relationships with major global investors are supported by a reliable distribution network. We have a dedicated ABS sales team incorporated into our broader sales force.

Asset Backed Commercial Paper Conduit
Barclays Capital sponsors three different asset-backed commercial paper conduits:

  • Sheffield Receivables Corporation: established in 1991 and one of the biggest multi-seller conduits in the market
  • Salisbury Receivables Company, LLC: a multi-seller conduit established in May 2008
  • Surrey Funding Corporation: a securities arbitrage ABCP programme established in 1999

Securitisation research ranges from short-term, trade-oriented and event-driven pieces to longer shelf-life publications, including industry and sector overviews with an emphasis on issuer profiles. The more thematic and in-depth research articles are published in our Securitisation Monthly and Annual reports.
