Barclays Capital Appoints Head of Latin America Rates Trading

NEW YORK (July 31, 2008) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, announced today the appointment of Pravin Mouli as Managing Director and Head of Latin America Rates Trading. Based in New York, he reports to Diego Gradowczyk, Managing Director and Head of EEMEA and Latin America Emerging Markets Trading.

“Pravin's extensive experience in emerging markets trading, structuring and management will be significant in helping us to support and grow Barclays Capital’s Latin America franchise,” said Gradowczyk. “He will play a vital role in developing our Interest Rates and FX trading business both offshore and locally, working with our offices in Mexico City and Sao Paulo.”

Mr. Mouli joined Barclays Capital from Bear Stearns where he was a Senior Managing Director and Head of Latin America Fixed Income Trading. Prior to that, he spent five years at Morgan Stanley, several years at Dresdner and ABN, and eight years at Credit Suisse. He has experience with proprietary and client business, covering a wide range of Emerging Markets products including FX, credit, interest rates, and structured derivatives.

Barclays Capital has developed a significant track record in Latin America’s domestic and international sovereign and corporate debt instruments, credit derivatives, options and foreign exchange.  In 2007 Barclays Capital finished the year top five in Latin American DCM volumes across a range of trades, executing innovative public capital market trades in the context of a robust structuring, derivatives and commodities business.
