NEW YORK (July 22, 2008) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas R. Rosén as a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division, based in New York.

Capitalizing on his extensive background in M&A, Mr. Rosén will partner with associates across investment banking and leveraged finance to continue building the firm’s position as a provider of strategic advisory services.  He will focus on advising senior executives within the power sector on corporate strategy as well as divestitures of power generation assets. 

In recent months, Barclays Capital has expanded its investment banking coverage of major industry sectors through the addition of several senior appointments specializing in major product categories across debt, equity and M&A.   In addition to power, the firm has recently expanded its coverage of the healthcare, retail and industrials sectors.

For eight years, Mr. Rosén was a Managing Director and Head of Natural Resources M&A at Bank of America.   In this role, he was responsible for the firm’s Natural Resources M&A effort, with a focus on Global Power.  Prior to joining Bank of America in 2000, Mr. Rosén spent thirteen years at Chase Securities, where he was most recently Head of Utility & Power M&A.  He received a Master's Degree in Management from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
