Gay Huey Evans joins Barclays PLC as Vice-Chairman of Investment Banking and Investment Management

London - Barclays PLC ("Barclays") announces the appointment of Gay Huey Evans to a new role as Vice-Chairman of Investment Banking and Investment Management (IBIM). In this role, she will focus on developing and managing relationships with Sovereign Funds across the Barclays Group coordinating coverage of this important client segment to ensure that they are able to benefit fully from Barclays breadth and depth of products and services. She will be based in London and report to Thomas L Kalaris, CEO of Barclays Wealth, in his capacity as a member of the IBIM Executive Committee.

Mr Kalaris said: "We are delighted Gay is joining Barclays. Gay has excellent relationships with sovereign entities and will play a critical part in deepening our already strong business ties with these important clients. Gay's background brings unrivalled experience to Barclays".

Gay Huey Evans joins Barclays from Citi where she was most recently head of Governance - Citi Alternative Investments (EMEA). She was also President of Tribeca Global Management Ltd, which was Citi’s proprietary hedge fund prior to its acquisition of Old Lane in 2007. Before joining Citi in 2005, she was Director Markets Division and Capital Markets Sector Leader at the United Kingdom's Financial Services Authority ("FSA"). As one of the FSA’s founding Directors Gay was responsible for developing the FSA’s approach to the supervision and surveillance of the UK financial markets. She joined the FSA in 1998 from Bankers Trust where she had been a Senior Managing Director.

In addition, Gay is a Trustee of The Wigmore Hall Trust, and a Patron to the Advisory Committee of Wellbeing of Women.
