NEW YORK (January 16, 2008) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, today announced the appointment of Edward Witz as a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Witz joins the investment banking division’s industrial group, based in New York.  He will report to Reuben Daniels and Matt Pendo, Managing Directors and Co-Heads of the US Investment Banking Division.

“Ed will play a major role in building our coverage of industrial clients,” said Mr. Pendo.  “He brings with him great expertise and strong relationships that will add significant value to our franchise.”

Mr. Witz joins from Credit Suisse, where he worked for eight years, most recently as a Managing Director, Head of Global Automotive Investment Banking.   Before that, Mr. Witz worked at Lehman Brothers and the Bridgeford Group. He is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management and Colgate University.
