Barclays Capital opens Toronto marketing office

NEW YORK (November 1, 2007) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays PLC, today announced the opening of an office in Toronto, Canada. The new marketing office will add a local presence to Sales activities currently conducted from New York and London.

“We are pleased to establish our presence in Toronto,” said John Lovisolo, Managing Director and Head of Credit Sales, Americas. “The Toronto office enables us to focus on our growing Canadian client base.”

Barclays Capital today also announced the appointment of Sandra Godard as a Managing Director, Distribution, Barclays Canada Limited. In her role, she will be responsible for extending our client initiatives into the Canadian market. Based in Toronto, she will report to Lovisolo and Neil Cummins, Managing Director, Global Distribution. Ms. Godard joins the firm from HSBC where she was Head of Derivative and Fixed Income Sales for Canada.

“Sandra’s experience and expertise in the Canadian markets will be beneficial to the firm as she will be responsible for delivering the full suite of Barclays Capital’s products across all assets into this fast and growing investor market,” added Cummins.
