NEW YORK (September 6, 2007) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays PLC, today announced the appointment of William Ortner as a Managing Director, Equity Product Origination.   Mr. Ortner’s primary responsibility will be to lead Barclays Capital’s origination activities for the Americas in equity-linked financing and corporate equity derivatives.  Based in New York, Mr. Ortner will report to Craig Orchant, Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance and Risk Management for the Americas.

Mr. Ortner joins Barclays Capital after more than ten years with Citigroup where he was most recently a Managing Director responsible for corporate equity derivatives. Before that, he was an Associate in the Corporate Department of Shearman & Sterling. He has a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University.

Barclays Capital has made several other additional hires to the Equity Product Origination Team in the past few months. Winston Ma, CFA, joined as an Associate Director from JP Morgan Chase where he was most recently a Vice President in Capital Structure Advisory Solutions and Equity-Linked Capital Markets. Prior to that, he was a Corporate and Capital Markets Attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Greg Holden joined as an Associate Director from Credit Suisse where he was most recently a Vice President in the Equity-Linked Origination Group.  Dev Shrotri joined as a Manager from Dun & Bradstreet where he was an Associate in the Global Solutions Group.
