Barclays Capital today announced the appointment of Thomas King as Co-Head of Corporate Finance within the firm’s Investment Banking Division. Mr. King will be based in London and will partner with New York-based Ros Stephenson, the current Co-Head of Corporate Finance, to lead Barclays Capital’s industry and country coverage efforts on a global basis. Mr. King and Ms. Stephenson will report to Hugh (Skip) McGee, Head of Global Investment Banking.

Mr. King joins Barclays Capital from Citigroup where he was most recently Head of Banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mr. King joined Salomon Brothers in 1989 and moved to London in 1999 when he was appointed Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). He was named head of EMEA Investment Banking Division in 2005, and head of the combined Corporate and Investment Banking business in 2008. Throughout his career, he led numerous marquee M&A and strategic financing transactions, including BHP Billiton's $147 billion offer to acquire Rio Tinto, Portugal Telecom's defense from Sonae’s €12 billion unsolicited offer, and Vivendi's sale of Universal Entertainment to NBC.

Corporate Finance is responsible for developing and managing relationships with corporate and financial sponsor clients on a global basis. In this capacity, Corporate Finance bankers are responsible for holistic client coverage and partnering with product teams on a transactional basis. Corporate Finance at Barclays Capital consists of ten industry groups spanning all the major sectors, as well as country coverage groups across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.
