NEW YORK, NY/SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL (March 17, 2009) – Barclays Capital, the investment banking business of Barclays Bank PLC, today announced the appointment of Roberto Attuch Jr. as Head of Equity Research, Latin America, based in São Paulo, Brazil. In his new role, Mr. Attuch will oversee the firm's Equity Research franchise in Latin America and will lead research coverage of Latin American financial institutions and equity strategy. He will report to Stuart Linde, Head of Equity Research.

Prior to joining Barclays Capital, Mr. Attuch held various positions within Equity Research at Credit Suisse from 1995 to 2008. In 2007, Mr. Attuch was named Co-Head of Latin America Equity Research, responsible for Credit Suisse's Equity Research efforts in Mexico and the supervision of analysts covering domestic demand sectors. Mr. Attuch also held positions as Latin America Equity Strategist and Latin America Banks Analyst. For seven consecutive years, Mr. Attuch ranked #1 or #2 for Financial Institutions in Institutional Investor's Latin America Research Team Survey. In 2008, Mr. Attuch was top-ranked in four Institutional Investor categories: Financial Institutions, Equity Strategy, Brazil Team and Mexico Team.

Mr. Attuch joins an existing team of analysts and strategists providing economics and fixed income research, market strategy and sector analysis in Latin America. The firm’s expanded capabilities underline its ongoing commitment to building a full-service Equities franchise in the region.
