Barclays Capital named Interest Rate Derivatives House and SSAR Bond House by IFR

19 Dec 2008

Barclays Capital has won three House of the Year awards from IFR and IFR Asia magazines.

Commenting on the awards, the magazine said:

Interest Rate Derivatives House: "Improving P&L year-on-year was tough for rate derivatives teams in 2008. Some had to pull back as their houses suffered a loss of confidence from clients and markets. Others suffered due to the amount of risk they had warehoused. Yet Barclays Capital saw revenues increase and became a top global provider with the acquisition of Lehman Brothers US. Barclays Capital is IFR's Interest Rate Derivatives House of the Year."

Supra/Sovereign/Agency/Regional Bond House: "The SSAR market rose to the challenges of re-pricing that characterised 2008. Barclays Capital proved more steadfast than any of its competitors in supporting the three main currency pillars which underpin its clients' ability to meet their substantial funding needs, making it IFR's Supranational/Sovereign/Agency/Regional Bond House of the Year."

Australia and New Zealand Bond House: "In a difficult market faultless execution is essential. Barclays Capital delivered on that front time and time again. It led what were, without a doubt, the most innovative, the largest and certainly the most challenging bond issues of Australasia in the awards period. It is IFR's Asia's Australia and New Zealand Bond House of the Year."
