Darren Clarke

Barclays Capital has been a sponsor of international golfer Darren Clarke since 2002. Darren is a stalwart of the European tour and was a proud member of the winning 2006 European Ryder Cup Team. Darren is a dedicated and focused individual whose team spirit has earned him respect from his peers and the public. He is also a dedicated worker for charity and has set up his own Darren Clarke Foundation to develop junior golf in Ireland and raise money for Breast Cancer awareness.

Phil Mickelson

In March 2008 Barclays welcomed Phil Mickelson to the team. Phil is a great ambassador and role model for the game of golf and ranks third in the Official World Golf Rankings. Phil is the only American to play in all seven Presidents Cup matches and the last seven Ryder Cups, both further tributes to his remarkable consistency.

Probably the most famous sponsorship is the Barclays Premier League which pits the top 20 football teams against each other over the course of a season, which runs from August to May in England. The league has a massive fan base globally as well as its home country and is regularly described as the best and most exciting football league in the world.

A landmark arena, the Barclays Center will be the exciting new home of the Nets, National Basketball Association Franchise. A vision of world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the Barclays Center will feature a state-of-the-arts sports and entertainment arena, which will seat up to 20,000 people. This is a triumphant return for sports in Brooklyn as the Nets will be the first major league franchise in the borough since the Dodgers left Brooklyn in 1958. The Nets plan to tip-off their 2010-2011 season in their new home in Brooklyn.
